Beers, Bites and Business Event Recap
MNvest.org closed the summer with a bang! Actually, it was with a beer…and food. On August 22, MNvest.org hosted a Meetup event at Farm + Vine to continue their advocacy for investment crowdfunding. The event featured MNvest issuers Doug Sams, owner of Farm + Vine, and Jordan Standish and Max Boeke, owners of Clutch Brewing Co.
Under construction, Farm + Vine provided the served as the perfect venue for the event. Standing on unfinished floors and leaning on drywall, event attendees listened intently to MNvest.org
co-chair Zach Robins as he evangelized the impact of investment crowdfunding. Specifically, he recited the history and background of the “MNvest rule,” – which permits companies to offer equity shares to non-accredited investors in Minnesota – progress and achievements in 2017.
As the crowd nibbled on samples from Farm + Vine’s menu, owner Doug Sams discussed his experience as a food entrepreneur, his inspiration for opening Farm + Vine and the impact of regular, everyday people as investors in local businesses.
Event attendees were then treated to a beer tasting provided by Clutch Brewing Co. followed by owners Jordan Standish and Max Boeke outlining their journey from homebrewing as a hobby to opening a taproom in the historic Schmidt Brewery in Saint Paul. Like Sams, Standish and Boeke appealed to the crowd to consider MNvest as a vehicle for businesses looking for startup or expansion capital, as well as an investment channel for Minnesotans.
Many thanks to Farm + Vine and Clutch Brewing Co. for their generous support of MNvest.org and willingness to openly share their stories!

MNvest is a Minnesota law permitting investment crowdfunding, a new way to fund Minnesota's growing businesses. Similar to reward-based crowdfunding sites (like Kickstarter), MNvest enables Minnesota businesses to legally advertise investment opportunities to all Minnesota residents.
